Sovereign World

Sovereign World was founded by Chris Mungeam in 1986. His vision for the company was that it should concentrate on bringing together books focusing on both The Word and The Spirit. For the past twenty years the company has developed steadily, publishing an outstanding collection of titles by authors with a similar vision.In 2006 Sovereign World Ltd was acquired by The Christian Trust, the Registered Charity responsible for the growing work of Ellel Ministries International. The acquisition of Sovereign World Ltd by The Christian Trust is much more than a good business arrangement. Those who have been associated with both ministries clearly see the hand of God in what has transpired.

Ellel Ministries

Interestingly, Ellel Ministries was also born out of vision in 1986. Peter Horrobin, founder and International Director, began the work with the specific objective of bringing God’s healing to people through the power of the Holy Spirit, with teaching firmly rooted in the Word of God. The foundational Scripture of Ellel Ministries, (from Luke 9:11), is “Jesus welcomed the people, taught them the Kingdom and brought healing to those in need.” This could equally be a foundational Scripture for Sovereign World.Such has been the fruit of the ministry that Ellel’s original vision has now grown from one teaching and ministry centre at Ellel Grange in the North West of England, into a world-wide ministry. There are now four centres in the UK – Ellel Grange, Pierrepont, Glyndley Manor and Blairmore House in Scotland.Overseas centres are located in South Africa, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Hungary and the USA. Additionally, operating out of Ellel’s centre in Hungary there is a major mission and ministry thrust throughout Eastern Europe and Russia. The work of Ellel Ministries is also being developed in Norway, Sweden, Holland, Germany and France. Ellel Ministries and Sovereign World Together

The links between the two ministries have been strong for a very long time. Chris Mungeam and Peter Horrobin have known each other personally for over fifty years. Peter compiled the hugely popular, best-selling hymn and song book in the UK, Mission Praise. Chris Mungeam organised its publication - originally for the remarkable visit to England by Billy Graham in 1984 under the Mission England banner.Prior to establishing Ellel Ministries Peter had been a publisher for over fifteen years and is well-experienced to drive the company forward to its next stage of growth.Both Chris Mungeam and his wife Jan have served as Trustees of The Christian Trust. Sovereign World was the publisher of Peter’s two volume reference book on Healing Through Deliverance which has never been out of print for fifteen years.Ellel Ministries now have a world-wide network of centres and related bookshops which will provide an ideal means of distributing and selling Sovereign World books. Profits from the income arising from Sovereign World Ltd will be used to develop the mission work of Ellel Ministries.Additionally Sovereign World Ltd will continue to support the wonderful work of Sovereign World Trust, which distributes books free of charge to Pastors in third world and developing nation situations.

Ellel Ministries is committed to the same publishing ethos of Word and Spirit that has inspired and sustained Sovereign World throughout its twenty year history. • A historical library of Christian Biography providing in one dynamic series of books an inspiring account of the lives of the saints whose stories will enrich and challenge today’s believers.

• The existing Explaining Series will also be expanded to include a number of very significant new titles.

The Sovereign World Team

Chris Mungeam will continue as a Publishing Consultant to the company for an initial period of three years. Peter Horrobin has assumed the responsibilities of Chairman of the Company. The new publisher is Paul Stanier who has taken on responsibility for day to day management of the company.
